Your millionaire mind

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker is the most recent book I have been reading. In it, Eker teaches how to reprogram your mind’s attitude about money. You may be subconsciously preventing yourself from achieving financial success.
Specifically, he tells you to look back to your childhood and think about the experiences that shaped your feelings about money. Did you grow up hearing things like “money is the root of all evil”, “filthy rich” or “money can’t buy you happiness?

We human beings are such interesting, complicated creatures. Not only are we shaped by our childhood experiences, but we are shaped by the
specific age we were when we experienced them.

If a two year old sneaks a shiny coin from his mother’s purse, and immediately after there is an earthquake, the child is likely to believe that he is responsible for the earthquake. He will see it as a direct result of his taking the forbidden coin. He may grow up with an aversion to accumulating wealth and never know why.

At the age of 11, I was told by my math teacher that mathematical concepts were beyond my abilities to understand. Turns out, there had been a mix-up on my entrance exams and instead of belonging in the class for below average students, I had tested at the accelerated level. I was in the wrong class! Unfortunately, at age 11, I believed if the teacher said something, it must be true. By the time the school straightened things out, the damage was done. I still have to fight the idea that “I’m no good at math.”

The good news is that we have the ability to change these early mindsets. When we look back on things we grew up hearing and believing and then reassess those things from an adult perspective, we can reprogram ourselves and do away with faulty thinking.

If you are not achieving the things you wish in your business, think back on your childhood influences. Think about how those things shaped your thinking today. Then decide which mindsets are valid and which ones you may need to reprogram. Once you are aware, you can change.
Write down what you would like your new mindset to be.
  • “Money can fund many good causes.”
  • “I can be successful and still be a good person.”
  • “Money will not rob me of my values.” “I am good at math!”
Look at yourself in the mirror and say it every day for 30 days straight. It takes thirty days to establish a new routine. Take thirty days to reset your mindset. Learn to think like a millionaire.

When you have a chance, get the book by T. Harv Eker – it’s an easy read and gives lots of interesting tips. Get rid of the roadblocks to your business and your life. Everyone is deserving of success.

Science calls it meditation and we networkers call it motivation. This is the way we could get what is nearly impossible for us. Thanks!
